Missionaries to Costa Rica
Mark and Pam Grumbles were appointed to Costa Rica by the International Mission Board in December 7, 1982. Most of their ministry has been to Costa Ricans during the years except for four years in El Salvador (1997-2001) where Mark led the IMB mission efforts which included expanding and developing local pastor training institutes and earthquake relief.
Pam is from Franklin, Virginia and Mark is from Richmond, Virginia.
Mark began his missionary career as a Journeyman – serving for two years inParaguay (1975 – 1977) where he ran the Book Deposit (the wholesale warehouseanddistribution for the Baptist Spanish Publishing House) in Paraguay. Itwas a result of having served in Paraguay that he eventually met Pam in 1979, whohad also served two years there as an MK teacher at Asuncion Christian Academy from 1977 – 1979.
They entered Southeastern Seminary in 1980 and were married in 1981.
Mark and Pam both graduated from SEBTS in December of 1982 and they wereappointed by the Foreign Mission Board that same month. After language study, Mark began to work as the Treasurer and Business Manager for the Costa RicaMission.
Since then he has worked in Church Planting and Development, Discipleship,Seminary Professor, Mission Administrator, Leadership Training and OperationGO and Evangelism.
Pam has served as a Seminary Professor, MK teacher, Language school Coordinator in 1992-1993 and from 2002 to the present and currently serves as the LogisticsCoordinator for Costa Rica.
They have three children who were born in Costa Rica:
Kevin, 26, lives in Campbellsville, KY.
Drew, 23, is married to Helen and has two young children. He lives in Virginia andis studying at SEBTS.
Annie, is studying for a Masters in teaching at the College of William and Mary.
