All classes at the WHBC Learning Center strive to build age-appropriate skills and a strong Christian foundation. Lesson plans are teacher-created to allow for individualized pacing and freedom to approach materials in a variety of ways. All of our classes have a schedule, which allows for circle time, playground, snack, centers, and stories.
Tiger Cubs 2 1/2 – 3 Years Old (2 by March 30)

Looking for a warm and fun place to introduce your child to school? The Tiger Cub class may be just the place for your little explorer! This two-day class is designed for 2 1/2 – 3 year olds, and offers potty training support, meaning we accept children who are potty-trained or who are actively working on potty training. Tiger Cubs work on developing their independence with self-help, social and communication skills, while learning about others and the world around them.
Mighty Monkeys 3 Year Olds (3 by Sept. 30th)
Monday/Wednesday/Friday 9:15-12:15

Does your preschooler like to monkey around? Then the Mighty Monkeys class will be perfect! Whether your preschooler has already had a school experience or not, the Mighty Monkey class is a terrific place for children to grow and learn while having fun and making friends. This three-day class is for preschool-ready children, who are potty trained. Weekly themes are taught and expanded through age-appropriate activities, and teacher-guided play. Self-help skills and positive group cooperation is built while children are introduced to basic academic concepts.
Fabulous Frogs 4 year olds (4 by Sept. 30)
Monday – Thursday 9:15-12:15

Many wonderful things hop-pen in the Fabulous Frogs class! This 4 year old class is designed for preschoolers who will either go on to kindergarten the following year OR those who plan to have another year of preschool. This four-day class is for preschool-ready children, who are potty trained. This class focuses on school-readiness using the Virginia Standards of Learning and our own key areas of development as a basis for exciting, engaging and hands-on learning. Lessons are literature based to build pre-reading skills. Children are further introduced to math, reading, science, and social studies.
Energetic Elephants 4 year olds (4 by Sept. 30)
Monday – Friday 9:15 – 2:00
Teachers: Miss Judy & Miss Felicia
Cost: $475 per month
Teacher to Child Ratio = 1 to 8
Elephants not only remember everything, but they also do amazing things when they work together! This class is designed for children advancing to kindergarten the following year. This five-day class concentrates on school readiness and strengthening each child’s spiritual development. Lessons are literacy-based to encourage reading, and follow the Virginia Standards of Learning as well as our own key areas of development.
This class is longer than our other classes to enable children to have more time with the different areas of study and to further prepare them for the upcoming longer days of Kindergarten. The Energetic Elephants class bridges the gap between preschool and elementary school for a smooth transition.
Later Gators
… an after school enrichment program that is done in 4 to 6 week sessions based on a particular theme. Dismissal is at 2:00 and this program is open to our Monkeys and Frogs. This program is periodic, and enrollment occurs as the program is presented.
Early Birds
…. our arrive-early program that is available as an enrolled or drop-in option. Children can arrive as early as 7:45.
Busy Bees
… our after school program that is available as an enrolled or drop-in option. Children can stay as late as 4:00.
For both our Early Birds and Busy Bee programs, children can be enrolled 1 to 5 days per week or they can be “dropped in” with 24 hours notice.

Walnut Hills Baptist Church Learning Center offers before and after school programs to better meet our families’ needs. Our goal is to provide children with a safe, structured program that will allow them to further explore and develop the skills and curriculum taught in their classes and continue boosting social and self confidence.
Early Birds
The Early Birds program begins at 7:45. Parents/caregivers will bring children to the appointed classroom where the teacher will be waiting. All play will be teacher-guided and engaging. At 9:15, these children will be taken to their regular preschool classes.
Busy Bees
The Busy Bees program begins at 12:15. All Busy Bees must bring the following items to school on all Busy Bees Days: a nut-free lunch, a blanket and pillow, a change of clothes (labeled). The Learning Center will provide all snacks. Busy Bees will participate in teacher-guided center activities, story time, games, free play, and a rest period. If the Later Gators program is in session, the Busy Bees will automatically be able to join those classes until 2:00. Pick-up for Busy Bees is promptly at 4:00. Anyone picking up after 4:05 will be billed $1 per minute he/she is late.
