College Corner

The college Sunday school class enjoyed their Spring Break (March 1-9.) Sarah Milam helped her family with a home remodel; she became an expert in removing and relaying laminate flooring. Peter, Philip, Nathan & Nat spent time catching up on sleep, “chillin’ & just hangin’.” Kristin Marshall & Brittany Krantz traveled to Honduras on a mission trip. Christina Covington enjoyed playing with her 17-month old little sister.

A large number of students attended the Luau sponsored by the Student Ministries Committee the end of February. The fellowship hall became a veritable tropical island paradise. Activities for April include: sending care packages to home grown college students; a cook-out and game night at the Neal’s; and a church service led by the College class April 20 where we will honor our six seniors. The service will be followed by a lunch for students and adoptive parents.

William & Mary Student Adoption

To propspective parents: If you're interested in being a home-away-from-home, please sign up on the sheet in the side foyer or speak to Vicky Reining or Pat Wright.  Some suggested parent activities:

  1. Make yourself known/available to your student
  2. Have your student over for a meal or meals  in your home, or take him or her out to a restaurant
  3. Provide a place of quiet for study during exams
  4. Give him or her a place to visit/hang-out as part ofyour family
  5. Be creative! Ask what they'd like maybe just acall of encouragement from time to time

Many people in the past have formed lasting relationships with their students; just ask long-time parent, Nancy Altman!  Thanks for volunteering for this vital and exciting ministry of our church.

We're glad to have you back with us! We invite you and your friends to worship with us each week and to become a part of our fellowship. Many activities, including Sunday School, worship services, music and missions are offered for your involvement. Click here for a schedule of activities.

The Student Ministries Committee and the College Sunday School Class Leaders coordinate activities throughout the year and welcome any suggestions you might have. We offer an Affiliate Membership program and an Adopt-a-Student program which connects a student with a church family to provide a "home away from home" while in Williamsburg. Affiliate students are automatically adopted. To affiliate, simply come forward during any worship service. To be adopted, make a notation on the bulletin tear-off sheet and place in the offering plate.

Affiliate Membership

Affiliate Membership allows college students to join Walnut Hills Baptist Church, with all of the rights and privileges of a member, except that of voting, upon statement of present membership in another Christian church.

Affiliate membership is a great way for students to strengthen their connection with Walnut Hills Baptist Church while still remaining a member of their home church.
