The month of March was a very busy one with several special opportunities. We had a very good response to the Smart Discipline Seminar on February 28 led by nationally recognized speaker, Dr. Larry Koenig. I appreciate all who helped to make the evening a special event for parents of preschoolers, children, and youth alike. There were 84 participants for the evening session and approximately 16 participants for the afternoon session on classroom discipline. Special thanks to Christie Gallagher and Suzie Cheely for their help in planning this event.

Last Saturday we were blessed with beautiful weather for our Easter Party sponsored by the Sunday School. There were 95 children, parents, grand parents, and helpers who signed in to participate in a variety of activities. We could not have had such an enjoyable event without the help of our teachers, and other volunteers, Graham and several of our youth, and our party planners Kathy Nader, Lynn Carr, and Christie Gallagher. It was a real joy to see the results of our combined efforts.

It is not too late to take advantage of one last opportunity in March. On Sunday evening, March 30th at 7:00 pm there will be “A Special Time of Sharing”. This panel of four women will share something of their recent journey through breast cancer diagnosis and treatment. The courage and positive spirit of these women has been an inspiration for so many of us. Our panel members will include Carole Newsome, Jo Ray Johnson, Beverly Holmes, and Pearl Douglas. I believe this informal time of sharing will not only be an inspiration for each of us, but it will also prepare us to be more effective as we seek to support and encourage others facing serious illness.

There will also be a new discipleship class starting at 5:00 pm on March 30. Gail Jenner will be leading a women’s study of Beth Moore’s book, Get Out of That Pit. Classes currently underway include:

• Vertically Inclined at 9:30 am on Tuesday
• The Gospel of Luke at 10:30 am on Wednesdays
• Disciple I on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 pm

We really appreciate Tom Bray leading several of us through a study on Becoming a Contagious Christian. This is an excellent study, and we hope to have more people participate when it is offered again.
