MISSIONS & EVANGELISM CORNER

On January 30, 2008 the Missions & Evangelism Council was established as a ministry of Walnut Hills Baptist Church during the Annual Business Meeting.

The 2008 objectives of the Council are to:

1. Provide avenues and processes for external mission and evangelism support requests
2. Receive, review and approve ideas / plans for church wide projects from the congregation, which involve financial and human resource allocations from the congregation at large. Any class, individual, or group who would like to initiate a mission or evangelism outreach that involves the entire congregation should bring their outline plan to the next M&E meeting for review, discussion and coordination.
3. Submit proposed budgeting and implementation plans for such projects to the Church Council for approval if the projects involve expenditure of monies from the church budget.
4. Plan ways celebrate of accomplishments and history of missions at WHBC.

The present Council consists of the following areas:

• Council Coordinator – K. J. Proctor (elected by the Church for a three year term beginning 1/30/08)
• Evangelism Coordinator – Tom Bray
• Disaster Preparedness – Terri Bolt and Jack Horner
• Music Ministries – Brenda Oakes
• Youth & Family Ministries – Graham Cheek
• Baptist Collegiate Ministries – Danner Neal
• Partnership Missions – Alice Erickson
• Learning Center – Carol Bynum
• Ad hoc members:
• WMU – Leslie Baker
• Baptist Men – Pete Fowler
• Education – Linda Ward

Becoming a member of the Missions & Evangelism Council is by interest and passion for an area of mission involvement or evangelism outreach rather than by nomination committee process or as a result of involvement in another group. The normal term for an ongoing area will be one year, but a Council member may serve for additional years as desired or needed. A member may also join the Council during the period of time when he or she is in charge of a Council approved project.

Publicity / Media Team
Works with the publicity committee / media to ensure missions and evangelism endeavors are appropriately "advertised" and celebrated within the church and the community

Discipleship / Spiritual Development
Interaction with the Minister of Education to ensure educational opportunities which emphasize the discipleship and spiritual aspects of missions (special S.S. lessons, studies focused on missions).
