Gwen Arthur grew up in Victoria, Texas, where her father was a pastor. She graduated from Wayland Baptist College in Plainview, Texas. She and her husband George were appointed as IMB missionaries in Indonesia and later became NAMB missionaries, serving in Montgomery County, Maryland. She's a former teacher and medical office manager who now works as financial secretary for the Peninsula Baptist Association. She and George have five grown children and nine grandchildren; they now reside in Surry County where they continue to minister in their church and volunteer at Eastover.
